Spiritual Posture

For He inflicts pain, and gives relief;

He wounds, and His hands also heal.

Job 5:18

 

A few months ago I began an eight month corrective treatment plan with my chiropractor. The initial x-rays showed curvature in directions there shouldn't be. My back was continually aching and my posture was a bit slumped. I am now in my sixth month of treatment and feeling the wonderful results of repeated trips to the office for an adjustment. My back pain has disappeared and my posture feels great. As I walk, there is a new ease in walking straight and tall. My spine has reluctantly, but finally, given in to it's new place of correctness. At the end of each treatment, my favorite part is laying on the hydrotherapy table as warm, pulsating water moves up and down my body. It's the soothing end, for the sudden jolt and jerk I just received at the hands of my chiropractor.

 

Recently as I lay on the hydrotherapy bed, the Holy Spirit began to talk to me about this physical process I was going through and how there is a mirrored spiritual application.

 

I see now, that at times, He calls me into seasons of His divine corrective treatment.

 

My spiritual carriage is in need of constant attention. My Christian stance is top priority to my Father. Are others being drawn in because of my walk? Or, is my spiritual gait reflecting pain that won't be healed, showing curves and twists that expose the need for holy adjustment? Is there anyone watching that desires the posture I am walking with? Am I exemplifying true spiritual transformation?

 

If you are troubled on all sides, facing pain and loneliness like never before, being tested and challenged like it was the end of the world, be careful you haven't just entered into a season of corrective treatment with the One who is the Author and Finisher of your faith.

 

Stop and ponder something.

 

You may be thinking you are fighting your adversary when in all honesty, you may be rebelling against the One who is saying it's time for a season of corrective treatment. Your thoughts and focus are twisted and curved in places that do not satisfy heaven. Your ability to stand straight and tall in the Spirit has been compromised and you are in need of His loving hands to take hold of you in places that will feel like a swift jerk and jolt to your spiritual senses.

 

As a true child of God you will not ever be exempt from regular, heavenly re-alignment. As the image of Christ is slowly, but steadily being formed in you, there will be an ever increasing interruption to your poor spiritual posture. He will put His hands upon your weary and tired, crooked consecrated back and bring what may seem like a momentary painful jolt backward, yet when you find yourself upon His table of rest afterwards, a new freedom to live and move will invade your life.

 

You will stand straighter and taller than ever before!

 

 

 

Voice in the Wind:

 

Child, you and I are traveling now upon ground that is new to you. All the adjustments I have given to you thus far have given you the ability to walk where we are now. Yet there are still spiritual thoughts and attitudes, forms and reactions, that need altered in your life. I know you can feel the need for My hand of alignment. Lie down now upon My table and relax in my adjusting care. Even though My hand may inflict pain, it is necessary to bring you into new health and recovery. I only wound to repair. Your adversary only wounds to destroy. Breathe in My breath. Relax in what I need to do. Understand My heart. Allow My hands to touch you where it hurts. Yes you may feel a jolt and jerk, yet only for a moment and then the corrective path begins. 

 

Come to My table often. Come into My care and you will see how I will cause you to stand straight and tall. It will be less tiring for you and you will be amazed at the ease in which your new found alignment will cause you to travel. Where you were bent over, there will be a fresh tightness in your backbone to more effectively discern the adversary of your soul and your vision will be clearer as your head will be lifted up and the view will open up in greater width and expanse.

 

You will become more atune to My touch and soon the treatment will be complete and the season accomplished.

 

Yet, will it be finished? No, only ready for the next season of growth and transformation. When we are finished, My glory will be seen through and through and the sight of you will be stunning, full of grace and glory, ready to be My Bride!
